Shaolin Showdown

Shaolin Showdown was released in August 2001 with 144 cards and the identifier is crossed swords in the upper right corner. In Shaolin Showdown, the Ascended had enough of the Guiding Hand thwarting their plans. So the rulers of the modern world decided some payback was in order. They went back to the 1960's, the Hand;s home juncture, to eliminate the problem once and for all. Besides giving a large number of cards to the Ascended, Hand, and Dragons, Shaolin Showdown was ambitions on other fronts, introducing a new form of combat: the faceoff. A benefit based on the card causing the faceoff. The set also introduced a new type of kung fu state that can be interchangeably used by the Ascended or characters with enough chi resources. Finally, in keeping with the time period, a number of cards promoting swordplay were introduced. Z-Man revamped the Daedalus card Silver Band, but with a catch, the only way players could get it was by joining their demo team. Temple of the Monkey King and Feng Kan are also popular cards.
