Dark Future was released in April 2002 with 128 cards and the identifier is Crystals in the upper right corner. It's a civil war in the future. Homo Omega, the most powerful cyborg of the time, instigates a worldwide bloodbath against his former masters, the Architects of the Flesh. Standing in his way are the Dragons. What neither side realizes is that a second revolt is happening right under their noses. The Purists have merged the magic of the Lotus with quantum physics and other more arcane sciences. They are also completely insane. With Dark Future, the Purists became their own factions (identifiable by a bright blue border). To help them get off the ground, they were given their own foundation characters as well as the largest number of cards. Fitting for the time juncture, the Architects and Jammers also get a significant number of cards. That wasn't all that was brewing in the future, though. While the Ascended didn't get that many cards, a new type was created; the Reascended. More on this sub faction will be developed in later sets.
